Kalibu

Travelling Day

Waking up in our spare bungalow I got showered and then put my shorts on from the previous day only to discover the original bungalow keys in the pocket – much humble pie and apologies to Shell were required and much grief received from Daryll for the rest of the day.

We all went for breakfast and waited for the Solar eclipse to happen (We were told a few days prior that it was going to be a full one), but as time ticked by it was not getting very dark and when it finally arrived it was a very partial eclipse which was disappointing.

For the rest of the morning we hung round in the bar/restaurant area having a beer and a swim in the pool before being picked up around midday.

After being picked up it was a 3.5 hour journey to the airport. When we arrived we had time to kill so we thought we would have a bite to eat, the best option was burgers, however fast-food it was not, each order being cooked one at a time and when you did get your order it was the sloppiest/greasiest burger known to man!

Our plane was slightly delayed but soon we were on our way to Kalibu (the jumping off point for Boracay – where we were heading for) and the flight was another 1 hour jaunt.  At the other end we negotiated another tricycle to our hotel for the night (Daryll is now getting very adept at riding side-saddle!!).

As this was only a stop-over we checked into the hotel and as it was early evening we headed straight out to find a bar.  We walked up the road for a while and then spotted what looked like a likely candidate, when we entered it was quite a large local bar so we grabbed a seat and started on the Red Horse’s and some finger food.  A little while later a duo got on stage and started doing some pretty dreary/wrist-cutting cover versions which resulted in us drinking far too many 7% Red Horses and not remembering how we all got home - but we  did .
