1 Day at a Recommended Spot
After chilling out for a few days it was time to move on
and we had been recommended going to Kings Cliff by Debs mate Fi.
It was only a short drive of about 30k so we were soon arriving
at the campsite which was about 2k outside the town. The campsite itself was quite small but very
pristine as all the plots were astro-turf, which as we found out in the morning
was nice as they were not covered in dew. Also it meant that you didn’t tread
dirt into the van.
The site was also
right next to yet another beautiful beach so we could just sit there and listen
to the waves crashing on the beach.
As we sat there we then saw whales in the distance, so as
it was nice and sunny and it was great to see whales there we spent the
afternoon there drinking and watching the whales, it’s a tough life on the
road!! You can just make out the blowhole spray at the top of this picture.
Just as we were thinking of leaving we got a message from
Susan (who we had met in Laos and we were going to stay with the next day) and
she said she lived 15 minutes from here so she said she would come down and
meet us for a drink.
Susan turned up and we had a drink with her whilst
catching up on what we had been up to since we had met in Laos. A little later we were joined by one of Susan’s
best friends, Carmel and her partner and we spent the rest of the evening
chatting and drinking.
We finally left the bar around 9 and Susan kindly offered
to drive us back to our campsite and then joined us for a nightcap outside
Muriel before heading off.
As it had been quite a boozy day we were thankful to have
one of Shell’s Chorizo stews ready to go in our fridge, so we just heated this
up for a late dinner before going to bed for the night.
