Fiji

 Day 1 – Nadi

In order to renew our Australian Visa (we had been here longer than anticipated) we had decided to go to Fiji for a week.  Getting up early Bondy kindly gave us a lift to Sydney airport to catch our flight.

The flight was about four hours and we were soon landing in the new country of Fiji and back to some decent weather.  When we arrived at the airport terminal building we were greeted by a small Fiji band giving us a ‘Bula’ welcome (very South Pacific).

Once through customs we sorted ourselves out with a local sim card and picked up some local currency before being met by a mini-bus to transfer us to our hotel.

At the hotel we checked into our room, which to be honest wasn’t all that (bathroom door was hanging off), before heading down to the bar area, which was right on the beach, and had a couple of cold beers whilst we decided what we were going to do whilst we were here, looking through various brochures at the island hopping packages.  Eventually we decided on a five day two Island trip to the outlying Fiji Islands, which was going to start at 7.00 the next day.

Having now sorted out our plans we had a couple more ‘Fiji Golds’ whilst we watched the sunset before going to the restaurant/hotel next door to get some dinner.

The food was pretty decent but slightly expensive and we sat here for a while before returning to our hotel for an early night.
